Are you tired of missing out on your favorite dishes just because they’re not vegan? Fear not! With a little creativity and some simple substitutions, you can veganize almost any dish. Here are some tips and tricks to get you started:

Substitute meat with plant-based proteins

There are plenty of meat alternatives available these days, from tofu and tempeh to seitan and textured vegetable protein (TVP). These can be used to replace meat in dishes like stir-fries, tacos, burguers and fillings of any kind.

Use vegan dairy alternatives

Dairy products like cheese and milk can easily be replaced with vegan alternatives made from nuts, soy, or oats. These can be used in everything from lasagna to mac and cheese, just choose the variety that adjusts better to the kind of recipe you want to make.

Try aquafaba

Aquafaba is the liquid that’s left over from cooking chickpeas. It can be used as an egg white substitute in recipes like meringues and mayonnaise. You can also use it to make chocolate mousse and baking.

Replace the egg when baking

Try replacing the eggs with applesauce, mashed bananas, chia seeds, flaxseed meal or even tofu for a protein rich substitute. You can even make cakes without replacements of eggs, and they will turn out fantastic and fluffy.

Use plant-based fats

Instead of butter or lard, try using plant-based oils like coconut, avocado, or olive oil. These can be used in baking, sautéing, and frying.

Experiment with spices and seasonings

Many non-vegan dishes get their flavor from animal products like chicken broth or bacon. To get that savory umami flavor, try using mushrooms, miso, soy sauce, or nutritional yeast.

Don’t be afraid to get creative

Sometimes the best vegan dishes come from experimenting with new ingredients and techniques. Have fun and try new things! You’ll be surprised how many fabulous recipes started as an experiment.

Remember, veganizing a dish doesn’t always have to mean making a direct substitution. Sometimes it’s about finding a new way to create a similar flavor or texture. With a little practice and some creativity, you can veganize almost any dish and still enjoy all your favorite flavors. Happy cooking!
